Description of the job
GNSS signals, GPS in particular, are subject to polarization changes when reflected on the ground or on infrastructures. The detection and relevant exploitation of this phenomenon (considered as harmful) allows in some cases to improve the accuracy and robustness of the calculated position and in other cases, to provide information of interest on the direct environment of the receptor (a phenomenon considered useful).
The aim of this internship is to implement multi-polarization tracking algorithms for GNSS signals on an SDR target.
This 6-month internship will start from February 2018 (date subject to some flexibility).
This position requires a security clearance or eligibility for clearance by recognized authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities
The internship will be conducted in three main steps:
- Design and implementation in Matlab of multi-polarization tracking algorithms for GNSS signals.
- Consolidation of performances and adaptation of the signal processing design for an implementation on SDR architecture (ETTUS E310 a priori)
- Real experiments using available equipment (antenna, site)
- Signal processing
- Knowledge of digital communication and space applications, especially GNSS
- Expertise in electronic development and embedded systems, HDL for FPGA
- Solid foundations in the use of Linux.
