Description of the job

A vacancy for a Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) Expertise Services and Technologies Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse.

To leverage Secure Communications BU capacity to address Mobile Satellite Services and Secured Mobile Virtual Network Operator markets, you act as a deputy of Service IT solutions team manager (TCSGF2), around 15 people.
These responsibilities include the :
 Assessment of workload forecasts and supervision of service center organization (subcontractors),
 Organization of the technical pre-sales support: by delegation.
This mission requires a strong knowledge of mobile telecom operator BSS/OSS solutions and processes, and the capabilities to gather service requirements and specify the technical features to be supported by the IT system.
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

You are in charge of following responsibilities within Service IT solutions team:

 Ensuring that the Engineering team has the full knowledge of telecommunication services offered by terrestrial and satellite mobile operators and being able to share it among Secure Com stakeholders,
 Encouraging with Product Management the cooperation across Secure Com teams to understand business requirements, specify, develop and promote Airbus Mobile solutions,
 Contributing with the Procurement team to define and negotiate with partners and suppliers the relevant contract provisions consistent with the targets - costs, performances - of our services,
 Proposing the design of the new services relying on third party operators in consistency with Airbus Defence and Space strategy and roadmap,
 Ensuring the specification and the design of Secure Com service platform to ensure that its development is compliant with the roadmap of MSS and MVNO services,
 Defining with Customer Project and Back-office teams the whole service activation and billing processes, and the IT architecture supporting these processes,
 Building the cost base and the price models of the Mobile solutions developed and operated by Secure Communications, which will considered by Bid and Pre-Sales teams.
 Defining a system vision of the proposed solutions and coordinating all teams involved in service development to comply with requirements stated by customers or Product Management.
This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to a 5-year degree level in Engineering (or equivalent), specialising in Telecommunications Engineering/Networks
  • Experience at least 5 years in the architecture of mobile satellite networks and terminals of mobile services by satellite
  • Experience with a satellite operator would be a plus
  • Good knowledge of traditional exploitation systems
  • Excellent knowledge of new products appearing on the market, with operators or directly with manufacturers
  • Ability to innovate and anticipate customer needs
  • Excellent communication skills (written, spoken)
  • English: negotiation level
  • French: fluent level.
