Description of the job
An internship offer entitled "AUDIO SIGNAL PROCESSING ALGORITHM DEVELOPMENT FOR INTELLIGIBILITY AND VOICE QUALITY OPTIMIZATION WITH USE OF OXYGEN MASK MICROPHONE (M/F)" has just been launched at Airbus (Commercial Aircraft), in Toulouse.
Within the Research Department, you will join the department in charge of communication systems. As part of the avionics systems design department (communication systems and oxygen), you will carry out a study on the processing of audio signals, intelligibility and voice quality of communication when pilots wear their oxygen masks.
With such a mask, which covers both nose and mouth, the quality of communication between pilots is severely degraded by the distribution of oxygen and breathing.
The objective of the internship is to explore audio signal processing techniques to reduce oxygen distribution and pilot breathing noise and test the feasibility of these techniques.
This internship will start on 5 March 2018 (date subject to flexibility) and will last 6 months.

Tasks & accountabilities
You will be responsible for the following key activities:
- Development of prototype audio signal processing algorithms with MATLAB, then test sessions with pilots of the Flight Test Department.
- According to progress:
- real time prototyping and implementation with Max/MSP or SIMULINK software and Airbus laboratory means
- more advanced perceptual audio tests with human factors specialists
You have the following experience and skills:
- Currently in the last year of engineering school, this internship will allow you to validate a diploma of level Bac+5 (Master 2) in telecommunications or acoustics.
- Advanced knowledge in signal processing
- Master in Matlab/Simulink
- Advanced knowledge of Max/MSP will be a plus
- Pack Office
- High autonomy
- Curiosity / ease with the exploratory aspect
- Language skills: advanced level in English and intermediate level in French
