Airbus has been present in China since 1994, when the Airbus China Company Limited was officially established and the Airbus China Beijing Representative Office started operation. Customer service offices around the country provide on-the-spot airline support. Today, we also operate a vast training and support centre, which is the most modern and first dedicated in China, located in Beijing near the Beijing Capital Airport. The training centre provides Airbus aircraft operators with training programs for flight crews, maintenance crews, performance engineers and cabin crews. It is the only Airbus training centre in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Airbus (Beijing) Engineering Centre was formally inaugurated in July 2005 in Beijing. The engineering centre has successfully received EN9100 certification from the French international audit centre. Currently, more than 150 engineers provide design work for the A350 family aircraft.
The Airbus A320 Final Assembly Line (FAL), in Tianjin, the first FAL to operate outside of Europe, is a joint venture between Airbus and the Tianjin Free Trade Zone, where it is located. The first assembly started in August 2008, with the first A320 delivery in June 2009. Co-located on the same site are an A330 Completion and Delivery Centre, the first widebody centre outside of Europe; the Airbus Tianjin Delivery Centre; and a logistics centre aimed at improving supply chain management.

Airbus is present in Japan through several subsidiaries: Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space, ATR and but mainly Airbus Helicopters. With its first helicopter flying here as early as the 50’s, Airbus Helicopters has built a leading position in Japan, now holding ~55% share of the civil market. Due to the perilous landscape in Japan, the helicopter is often the fastest available means of transportation for missions such as firefighting, news coverage, medical emergency, police, coast guard, marine rescue, goods transportation and VIP.
In April 2012, the company’s activities were fully consolidated into a single entity to establish the current Airbus Helicopters Japan. With its headquarters in Tokyo, the company has a workforce of around 300. Its brand new helicopters maintenance centre in Kobe is the largest in Asia and offers a full range of repair capabilities. Airbus Helicopters Japan provides total support to its clients, from sales to post-sales support:
- Aircraft sales
- Spare parts and logistics
- Customisation, design and engineering
- Technical support
- Technical publication
